Located just walking distance from the beach this is a fantastic location to enjoy a coastal holiday with friends and family. Decorated and furnished to a good standard the property has a spacious garden dining room and cosy living room. Brightlingsea is a lovely and quaint seaside town with a boating lake beaches and a lively busy harbour with boat trips available throughout the summer. The beaches are great for children and it really is an excellent location for families. Clacton with its famous pier is just a few miles away. The countryside around Brightlingsea is stunning and the area is perfect for walking and cycling. The town has a number of good pubs cafes and restaurants and is known for its three excellent fish and chip shops. It is conveniently located to explore the coast of Essex or further inland the county town of Colchester Britain’s oldest recorded town with a castle museums art gallery many Roman remains a good shopping centre Colchester Zoo and a rail link to London 40 minutes. Mersea Island is nearby where visitors can sample the locally caught fish and oysters as well as its sailing and beaches. Beach 150 yards.     We had a wonderful stay. The house is so close to the town and sea. Pubs and shops and cafes within 5 mins. We’d never been to Brightllingsea before but it’s gorgeous, really lovely boating lake, harbour, beach and high street with lovely old buildings (make sure to walk to end to Hurst Green). We explored the Essex coast and walked to Wivenhoe which is a stunning walk. The house has a spacious enclosed garden. The stairs are steep in the house but with a strong handrail so fine. Very surprised by a couple of the reviews as we loved this comfy cosy little house and it was very clean. We will definitely return. The owner was very helpful and responsive.

    Great location but inside house lets it down. Needs a serious clean, every plate or mug we took from cupboards needed re-washing, back of toilet disgusting. Every radiator was blocked by a piece of furniture and then at 3am in them morning the landing one and two bedroom ones screeched until you turned them up on full heat, which was unbearable. Fire in the lounge didn't work and was for show only. There was no welcome pack, with even basic info. Recycling bin was full to the brim on arrival. Light bulb out in the lounge. Bits of wall hanging off and holes in wall. Stairs steep which was fine but the stair railing was very loose. Drawers in bedrooms were full of stuff, including a box of Rennie tablets in the children's room. The pillows in the double room were so flat, you needed at least three to make up one pillow. Very disappointed. Would not recommend staying here.

    Very disappointed as the website photos are not reflective of how we found the cottage. It was grimy and furniture/bedding not anywhere near standard shown. The banister on the stairs is wobbly and dangerous. The crockery and cooking pans were dirty. There were holes I in the walls and numerous dead flies. We left the cottage early as had had enough.
