Seafield House stands in the centre of the charming village of Lochinver, on the stunning north west coast of Scotland. With spectacular views across the sea to the islands beyond, this bright and spacious, three storey, detached property provides a wonderful holiday home for larger families or groups. Built in 1800, Seafield House was originally owned by the village shoemaker. The owners have carried out a meticulous programme of renovation throughout, whilst retaining a wealth of original features. They have succeeded in creating a unique blend of old and new, using carefully sourced reclaimed materials, as well as exposing original stonework and fireplaces. On the ground floor, there is a large living room with wood burner and lovely views across the sea. The dining room is simply stunning, with an exposed lime-washed stone wall and huge feature fireplace. An open door leads through to the farmhouse-style kitchen with solid wood dressers and work surfaces. From here, a door leads out to the patio area and the wildlife garden, where deer are frequent visitors. Wide, original staircases lead up to the bedrooms on the first and second floors. They are all very attractively furnished and decorated, again using a wealth of reclaimed furniture and furnishings - the ultimate in shabby chic.

Lochinver is a thriving fishing village with a natural harbour. It has a good selection of restaurants, two pubs, small shops and cafes. The stunning white sandy beach of Achmelvich is just 10 minutes’ drive away, and there are numerous sandy and rocky bays along this beautiful unspoilt coastline. Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hill walking, fishing and climbing are all available locally. The area is a haven for wildlife, with deer regularly seen close to the cottage and can even sometimes be seen wandering in the garden. Osprey, eagles, seals and otters are all spotted in the immediate area. There are superb walks and climbs direct from the house and the dramatic peaks of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt dominate the skyline of this wild and unspoilt Highland region. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Loved our stay in this part of Scotland and staying at seafield made it even better! We looked forward to coming 'home' every night - beds were comfortable and house was homely. Only thing is - some of the pans and the oven were still greasy - maybe to do with the guests before us not washing them properly.

Good cottage. Kitchen rustic and not so good for cooking for 8. For 2 ok. Local food shopping not great. One restaurant shut, one shorter hours. Open one really good, but very busy.

Spacious. Interesting decor but very draughty in strong winds. All wooden floors. Excellent drying room for wet boots and clothing ( we are a group of mountain climbers and enjoyed some wonderful snow). Well equipped house including hot water bottles. Stunning views. Comfortable beds and sitting room.

I booked this five bedroom house for myself and four friends on a Scottish winter hillwalking week. The weather was pretty challenging, but the comfort and convenience of the house helped us manage this successfully. Good levels of equipment, fixtures and fittings. Very comfortable house in walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants. Great view and private off road parking.
