It boasts stunning views from the first and top floor rooms over the marina and harbour and provides an excellent standard of accommodation for families looking to explore this beautiful area. The modern décor and furnishings have been tastefully done and finished off to a high standard. There is shared access to the rear of the property onto a patio area with furniture which is perfect for relaxing on a summers evening. \n\nThe accommodation is over four floors with the kitchen on the lower ground floor accessed externally from steps leading up from the road. A staircase leads up from the kitchen to the living room on the ground floor which has an external door to the backyard. The street behind the house can be reached by a metal staircase in the yard leading to a door onto the street.\n\nA five minute walk will bring you into the centre of Whitby where there is plenty to offer everyone with a large selection of pubs quaint antique and gift shops the famous fish and chip shops and three miles of golden sandy beach. A holiday here is perfect for families or couples looking to relax and enjoy the ample restaurants with their awards for excellent cuisine. You could also take a trip out on one of the pleasure boats where you can enjoy a trip around the harbour and out to sea where you can view Whitby in all its glory. Whitby is surrounded by spectacular scenery of the North York Moors which you can enjoy by taking either the Esk valley train that takes you to Middlesbrough stopping at the pretty villages along the way or the excellent North York Moor steam train that will take you from Whitby to the lovely market town of Pickering stopping off at Goathland otherwise known as ‘Heartbeat Country’. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend Staithes Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit. We had an excellent stay at Seagull’s Nest. The cottage is quaint and the views from the top two floors are stunning. The location is deal for strolling alongside the harbour or along the Abbey path. Everything you need is within easy walking distance. We only used the car to nip to the supermarket. We were aware of the steps and it was fun for us to stay in an old, authentic cottage over 4 floors. I wouldn’t recommend for people with mobility difficulties or very young children. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped and a good size for family dining. It wasn’t the cleanest. Inside drawers were dirty and cobwebs under the stairs. There was also a strong smell of damp. The lounge was very comfy for relaxing with a good size TV so we enjoyed a couple of movie nights. A bit dusty on arrival. The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom was of a good standard too with bath and shower. A nice yard with shared access to the the street. It could have done with some TLC - lots of weeds and dead plants in pots. Did put us off sitting out here to be honest. Could be spruced up and suggest adding a BBQ. I would definitely recommend the location and comfort of this cottage and hope some TLC could bring up the cleanliness a bit.

Overall good. It’s aid kit was covered in mildew and the dressings were out of date. Seal round fridge was mouldy. Other than that, well equipped. Beds comfy and clean. We were told check out was 10am but cleaner was told 9am so turned up earlier than expected

Lovely cottage overlooking the sea with all amenities needed for a great stay. The only downside is the bedroom on the 2nd floor is not really suitable for two adults. The single bed mattresses were quite thin and the access to the bedroom was challenging as the height from the top step to the ceiling was less than 3 feet - more suited to children than adults. Overall a great stay was had by all.
