Seaspray is a spacious three-bedroom cottage set at the end of the desirable terraced row of Coastguard Cottages in Dawlish, showcasing uninterrupted sea views. The spectacular and far-reaching views look across Dawlish beach out towards both Lyme Bay and Torbay. On the ground floor, discover a well-equipped kitchen with a host of appliances. Relax in the living area which is comfortably furnished with a four-seater sofa, two armchairs and a cosy wood burner. Within the same space is the dining table seating up to six guests, perfect for celebrating a special occasion with a home cooked meal, whilst gazing out over the sea and with bi-fold doors opening out onto the terrace. You can really dine in style here enjoying the changing colours of the sky at sunset.
The patio area at the front of the property is gated with a separate handy storeroom where beach gear and bikes can be kept. There is also a self contained toilet and wash basin within this building. At the back of the property is the beautiful terrace which has the sea views, a large outdoor dining table seating up to eight guests, two gravity chairs and two extra chairs. For those of a nervous disposition, the wall to the terrace garden has a 10 metre/ 33ft drop on the seaside down to the railway line, so toddlers, children, teenagers and irresponsible adults need to be both watched and aware. However, all that being noted we guarantee these views will captivate you. Each of the three charming double bedrooms on the first floor have a 4ft6 bed, a free-standing wardrobe and jute rope carpeting which really adds to the coastal theme. The first and second bedrooms both have ocean views at the back of the cottage.
Head out onto the golden sands of Dawlish Beach and enjoy paddling in the sea, before exploring the town’s selection of charming cafés and local shops. Dawlish is very much a traditional seaside town. Walk along the South West Coast Path and you will reach neighbouring Dawlish Warren where you’ll find a mile of beautiful sandy beach backed by sand dunes and a nature reserve with meadows and freshwater ponds. The reserve attracts huge numbers of migratory birds and is a magnet for bird watchers and nature lovers. Cycle hire is available here to continue adventuring along the coast, as well as a Warren Golf Club for keen golfers, and a fun Grand Prix race track. Cyclists and walkers can follow the scenic route from Dawlish to Exeter, which runs alongside the Exeter Canal and the River Exe. A ferry from nearby Starcross takes passengers with or without bikes across the estuary to Exmouth where you can join the Exe Estuary Trail.
The nearby Powderham Castle is a lavish 14th century castle resting further north along the River Exe near to Kenton. Marvel at the amazing tapestries and antiques, as well as the extensive grounds. Further south is the town of Teignmouth, bustling with seaside fun and home to a classic pier built back in the mid-1800s, with Teignmouth Lighthouse providing a perfect photo opportunity. The Shaldon Wildlife Trust over the water has a small zoo, home to some rare species. The cottage is also within 30 minutes drive of Exeter, Torbay and the Dartmoor National Park. Enjoy finding many wonders along the South Devon coastline when you stay at the fantastic holiday home. Seaspray awaits your arrival! Beach ½ mile. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
