St Andrews is positioned right on the harbour in Pittenweem, the most active of the fishing ports in the East Neuk of Fife, and boasts stunning sea views across the Firth of Forth to the Bass Rock and Isle of May.

The location of this lovely cottage is sublime. A quintessential fisherman’s cottage, the property has been restored to provide luxury, contemporary and tastefully furnished, self-catering accommodation yet still maintaining some of the character within a unique setting. There has been a fisherman’s cottage on this location since the 16th-century and the original building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1908 and not rebuilt until 1918 after the Great War. The family who built the new fisherman’s cottage were from St Andrews, hence the name. The old hooks where the fishing nets were hung to dry are still on the wall in the back garden, which is now a sunny courtyard and ideal for enjoying the summer sun with a glass of wine. The old wash house still has the old sink and is great for cleaning sports equipment or rinsing the sand off your buckets and spades. Within the cottage you will find it is beautifully presented with much thought, care and attention to the finer details. Both spacious double bedrooms are en-suite, and on the ground floor there is also a large storage cupboard to store your golf equipment. The open plan living space on the first floor captures the amazing sea views to enable guests to enjoy watching the fishing boats entering and leaving the picturesque harbour, and the fish market in the morning where the local fishermen sell their catch. If fish is on your menu you can purchase freshly caught fish and prepare that special meal in the well-equipped kitchen.

From your front door you can walk to the local inn, fish and chip shop, restaurants, chocolate shop and café, local bakers shop and an interesting array of artist galleries. Explore the quaint lanes and wynds of this historic fishing village and find St Fillan’s cave in Cove Wynd, which was used as a chapel by St Fillan in the 700s. Pittenweem Arts Festival held at the beginning of August is a very popular event. The Fife Coastal Path passes through the village and is ideal for exploring the coast on foot to picturesque fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches and coves. This area is famous for golf and St Andrews with its championship courses is within 10 miles, as are more than twenty other local courses so you will be spoilt for choice. With historic buildings, whisky distillery, museums and visitor attractions and boat trips to the Isle of May to see the wild birds, St Andrews in Pittenweem is the perfect location for all ages to explore this area of Fife. Edinburgh 45 miles. Perth 40 miles. Dundee 23 miles. Beach 120 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub 50 yards, restaurant 10 yards.

What a wonderful cottage /location/ holiday! Very comfortable, very stylish, easy access to all the East Neuk offers - marvellous views of the comings and goings on the harbour, but still very quiet. We were very sad to leave, and will definitely be returning.

The cottage was excellent, clean, tidy & in a fantastic location opposite the harbour right next door to the Dory bistro. My only suggestion for improvement is to keep a door key in a key safe (with a spare at the pub) accessed using a numbered code. That way it would be easy to depart early at the end of your holiday without getting the pub landlord out of bed in order to return the key.

Family of 4 absolutely loved the location and interior of this cottage. Beautifully finished and very well appointed ( we just had to provide our own cot and having a 1 year old missed having a bath for her but apart from that perfect ). Also larger than we were expecting as all the rooms are very spacious. A great location for exploring the Fife cost. Loved seeing a seal in the harbour and would recommend visiting The Dory Bistro next door, boat trip to May and visiting Elie and Tentsmuir beaches. We loved it so much we hope to come again.

This is a very high quality cottage. Right on Pittenweem harbour. Fantastic views. The cottage is beautifully equipped and decorated. They have really gone the extra mile there were cosmetics in the bathrooms and lovely hand wash at every sink. Flowers in rooms as well. The kitchen was fantastically equipped. The bathrooms had lovely towels and all the bed linen was of a very high quality. I can not stress enough what a lovely cottage this was. We had a fantastic holiday.

Fabulous trip. The cottage is very conveniently located on the Fife coast, making Elie, St Monans, Wemyss, Anstruther and Crail a short drive away. St Andrews, Tentsmuir, Morton Lochs and Loch Leven are all less than an hour away. We were lucky and watched seals in the harbour from the lounge window!

This house is in an ideal location for exploring the East Neuk of Fife. It was one of the best equipped houses we've ever stayed in. Spacious and comfortable with some quirky furnishings and very suitable as a winter break destination. Lots of places to eat close by and great walks!

What an absolutely superb property & location, we really couldn’t have wished for more from our stay at St Andrews. The property is delightfully decorated & furnished, and the finishing touches have obviously been carefully considered to suit the overall comfort and style of the property and guests needs. The views from the dual aspect windows in the lounge over looking the harbour are stunning, we were so lucky that the weather decided to be kind to us during our short break that the sunrise & sunsets were just beautiful. We were privileged to watch seals from our window just feet away in the harbour every day of our stay, we were hoping for an odd sighting at best! There’s loads to do in the surrounding areas, or just relax and explore Pittenweem and it’s little hideaways. We can’t wait to go back but for longer next time.
