This was the best equipped cottage we have been to. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable full of interesting items. With a fantastic view and easy access to the loch and beach. A great welcome with the milk, juice and all the goodies.

A great cottage with fantastic views. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you would need. The private field was great for the dogs, although they always headed straight for the Loch. People have mentioned the pot holes a lot. We had a quite low Astra and if you take it slowly, it is not a problem. Great walks north and south on the West Highland way. Conic Hill is a nice walk and there are local forest walks in Cashel Forest over the road. Ben Lomand is also very close within a short drive. Drymen is best for shopping supplies and the Drymen Inn does good food and welcomes dogs. Will return again although disappointed that the corresponding week next summer is over £400 more than this summer. Will need to return outside of peak season.

Wow!! What an amazing hidden gem. If you’re looking for a 5* luxurious place to stay then I would say that this is probably not the place for you but if you’re looking for somewhere special which is away from the hustle and bustle with absolutely stunning views and a magic about it where you totally relax then Strathcashel cottage is perfect. The master bedroom was so comfortable, I haven’t slept so well in ages, the lounge was cosy for us all to enjoy watching tv in the evenings and absolutely loved eating my breakfast in the sunroom taking in the view of the loch. My son loved the rope swing on the beach, we went out on our inflatable kayak in the loch and even had a little swim. Our dog loved the freedom of running around large garden and all of the stunning places close by to visit. If you don’t mind a fairly intense walk then I would definitely recommend walking up Ben Lomond, it took us about 5hrs in total but was worth if for the stunning views. This was our first visit to Scotland and it won’t be our last, if we are back in Loch Lomond then we will definitely stay in Strathcashel cottage again.

We absolutely loved the peace and quiet and the views. The house is extremely well provided, not only with everything you could want in the kitchen, but also games, books etc. But the best thing is the view and the direct access to the loch. It was only slightly marred by the extremely pitted track which is difficult to drive along, and a few niggles about the house such as the lack of a clothes airer for damp clothes (although there is a tumble drier) - I felt sure there must be one, but I never found it! But overall it was a great house to stay in.

What a fantastic place, We love this cottage, such a little gem and well worth driving down the rough track to get there. The cottage is just perfect, the grounds are beautiful and so relaxing but then you also have a short walk to such a breathtaking pebble beach on the Loch. We would stay here over and over again and never get bored of the place, The family who own the cottage made you feel very welcome with a little note and a few bits for you to get going. We just loved our break here.

Booked this for a week in June - visited the area several times and stayed in a couple of different cottages. However, this one tops the lot. To start with the views were fantastic - 1 minute walk from the beach which while it's technically public is totally inaccessible to anything other than a boat or from the cottage. The rooms were generously proportioned, and the snug next to the master bedroom was where we spent most of our evenings enjoying the views over the west coast of the loch. The drive is potholed, yes, however if taken slowly it's absolutely fine and only a couple of minutes - we managed this in an audi and seat which have fairly firm suspension with no issue. We were welcomed by all the essentials, milk, fresh bread and a fantastically equipped kitchen. There were spares for anything we might have needed in the boot room. All the beds were comfortable for 6 adults, the bathrooms were immaculate and the showers powerful and hot at any time of the day. and the board games provided meant we never even used the TV. Balmaha and the oak tree inn is a 3 mile stroll along the west highland way with further stunning surroundings. We had a fantastic week, we still made it across to Edinburgh in a day which demonstrates while the cottage is fairly remote it is still easy to explore a large part of Scotland without driving for too long. We're so impressed with the cottage we've been home less than 24 hours and booked for next year!

Had a lovely holiday in a great location, cottage was very well equipped and very comfortable. Only comment is the track to the cottage which is difficult to negotiate but that did not spoil a lovely holiday in a beautiful setting.

The cottage was in a lovely position but the location brought a few issues. The drive is a long potholed farm track best negotiated with an SUV. There was a infestation of little moths that looked liked the sort that eat clothes. Also I was bitten by some ticks and they were on my torso so very unlikely picked up while walking - most likely from the furniture. Apart from the above the location was ideal for climbing the local mountains - Ben Lomond and Conic Hill. The West Highland Way was very close and was a good walk to Balmaha were there was a very nice pub with good typical pub food.

I really want to say that this place was appalling!!!!!! As I don't want to share!!!! Had a fabulous week enjoyed paddling in loch Lomond the garden was lovely and the beds amazing!! Even my 81 year old dad slept!!! The only downside was the track !! And in a Mazda MX-5 the potholes were an issue other than that we will return our westie can't wait ? thanks to the owners for sharing x

We came for a short break, just the two of us with our collie and couldn't have asked for better. The cottage is warm, cosy and really well equipped. The rainfall shower is just perfect after a day of walking and the beds comfortable too. For us the location was spot on, the dog could play safely in the garden and we loved the peace and quiet of nobody else being anywhere near us. Having the loch just a stroll down the garden was beautiful and this was also the view form our bedroom and the sun room so we could enjoy this from inside too. Out across the Loch you could see up to Ben Lomond - the wind stopped us making it to the top this time but maybe next year! There are plenty of great pubs just a short drive away and shops in Balmaha/Drymen to pick up the basics. We were sad to leave and wished we could have stayed longer. We really hope to go back again next year for a full week. Thank you for a wonderful stay!! Emily, Gary and Jousey

First of all we would both like to thank the owners for all their prompt help & assistance when we needed it. Knowing things were getting sorted so quickly was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble...Thank you. The cottage is in the most idyllic setting. In the middle of nowhere down a long track which was great for taking the dogs for a walk last thing at night. The loch being on the doorstep was wonderful. Opening the curtains every morning to see the loch & the mountains behind was fantastic. We went on some amazing walks within a few miles or so of the cottage with the dogs. The cottage is very well equipped & has everything you need. Plenty of hot water, lots of crockery & other useful gadgets. Wonderful large bath towels & the most comfortable bed, I have a spinal condition & the mattress was by far the best I have slept on in 30yrs of staying in cottages around the country. Once the heating had been sorted the cottage was beautifully warm & cosy. The woodburner was great & heated up very quickly. Maybe a couple of torches would be useful especially as it gets so dark at night outside. There was a torch but no batteries in it. One of our dogs managed to escape one night into the woods & we only had our mobile phone torches which were pretty useless, so a couple of good torches would have been good. Also, maybe some milk in the fridge for arriving guests as after a 5hr drive we got there & had to go back out in the dark to find a shop & get some milk. Luckily the local shop was still open. I know most places we have stayed in have a welcome pack for guests which include milk & other essentials along with some little goodies so guests can relax when they arrive. We had a lovely relaxing week apart from the escaping dog at 10.30pm & certainly recharged our batteries. Thank you to you all.
