I holiday alone but I take my 2 dogs with me, I cycle, walk, read and I always take my amazon stick to relax during the evening. Swallow Barn says it has Wi-Fi, the location is good so I thought it would be a great holiday. I noticed reviews said you could not use your phone so I called the owner before my holiday to ask about wi-fi as I use an amazon stick.....he said it's not a problem. I arrived and there is no bike store (as stated) so I had to leave it in an unsecured out building. the cottage was clean but I noticed you are overlooked by 2 neighboring cottages (who share a garden right outside the living area). I plugged the stick in and although there is a wi-fi code it is NOT in range for the cottage. I tried to call the owner but there was no service....you have to walk about outside to attempt a call....which is very quickly disconnected. I waited over 4 hours for the owner to arrive and he says "we never have any issues" which was a complete lie.....he said well I've got wi-fi on my phone.....I explained I needed to use the TV not my phone...."oh sorry I don't do anything technical" was his reply and then he said "you'll have to walk the dogs a bit more won't you"..........The fridge has not guard on the door shelf so you need to open the door with caution as it collides with the cooker and everything falls off the shelf and will smash on the tiled floor. There is no freezer in the cottage that is shared with everyone else in an out house. There is no dryer (as stated). I paid a lot of money to stop here and it was very disappointing. If I'd have known there was no wi-fi I would NOT have booked this cottage. So as long as you are are aware YOUR NEIGHBORS CAN SEE INTO EVERY ROOM except the bedroom, YOU CANNOT USE YOUR PHONE AT ALL and there IS NO WI-FI, NO BIKE STORE and NO DRYER........and The owner IS EXTREMELY RUDE!!!!......I left after 3 days.......my holiday was for 7......NEVER AGAIN....

A fantastic rural location, be prepared to travel for shops pubs dining etc or take everything with you and go off grid. The cooker door is fun as opens the wrong way making it impossible to change the shelve layout, adding to difficulty to place oven trays into the oven. Animals on the farm are a real treat as are the views across the valley. No mobile reception and very poor wifi reception which is ideal for those wanting to get away, not great if you need internet.

The cottage was immaculate, very clean, warm and cosy. Quality furnishing, everything you need in the kitchen. The veiw from the garden is amazing. Plenty of space for the dog to run around. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely, comfortable place in ideal location. Our only reason for giving a 9 was because of the bath - very beautiful roll top bath, but deadly for elderly or slightly disabled guests!

Ideal location for exploring The Peaks by car or Carsington Water/local walks on foot. The accomodation was ideal with lots of character & stunning views. A welcoming 'gift' on arrival & 'down to earth/affable' hosts

We enjoyed the area and would visit again but not this cottage. We had an issue with the heating oil being smelt in the kitchen & lounge and had to leave the window open the 5 nights we stayed. My husband noticed there’s a leak as there was a pool of oil outside the kitchen window on the floor. Reported to the owner who blamed the wind blowing the wrong way! Also the blinds in the bedroom are inadequate. The light from the outside security light shines straight into the bedroom throughout the night. Mentioned to the owner who suggested we bloke them up, which we were already doing with cushions... not idea as it’s a barn and u can imagine how high one of the windows was. Shame, the decor and surrounding of this cottage is stunning but sadly we wouldn’t return. Also because it’s a small kitchen, but very well stocked I will add with quality crockery, the oven door wouldn’t open fully and I couldn’t adjust the shelves to fit our turkey in!

we had an amazing time at swallow barn for our mini moon. the barn was always warm and everything was of super good quality. the only downside was the internet was hard to get hold of, but that added to the experience of getting away from everything for a few days. would really reccomend this place for a quiet get away
