Good Points: There was enough fridge and freezer space for the stay The bed sheets and towels appeared clean The living room and kitchen is spacious Enough parking area Bad Points Many of the mattresses on the beds were very worn and had obviously been there for a long time. 4 rooms were advertised as having en-suite, which was not the case; the shower upstairs was broken (stuck on hot). Advertised as having Wi-Fi and whilst there was a network to connect to, there was no actual connection to the internet (something you may need as you will have no mobile signal here). The hot tub cover needs replacing (it has degraded massively, and it smelt awful). Draws and cupboards, whilst sufficiently stocked, had not been cleaned thoroughly. There was left-over food. We were prepared to accept the above bad points, however, there was an incident on the Saturday night (we were out celebrating a birthday and arrived back at 12.50pm) where there was no water (no drinking water, shower, toilet etc) upon our return. From the Saturday night until after we left on the Sunday none of us were able to drink anything or shower before our long journey home. Communication from the owners was poor (a caretaker had been around the premises until 22:30 but did not leave any note for us informing us of the issue) and to make matters worse, the owners took no responsibility, nor did they offer to bring any drinking water or offer any compensation as way of apology. Tips: Don’t stay here. It is worth spending a little more and staying elsewhere If you are going to stay here, make sure you have a supply of drinking water. Buy all the food you need to before arriving Do a thorough check of any issues and report them straight away

We had wonderful time at The Barn, as a group of 10. Incredibly good value for what you get: a lovely converted barn with 5 bedrooms, four of which are en suite (one of these is accessible from the hall, so those in the fifth bedroom don't have to disturb anyone in the night!), with a fantastic outdoor hot-tub. There is also an area outside to BBQ, and the scenery is beautiful. There are very low beams upstairs - these are very obvious, so accidental bumps are unlikely, but be prepared to crouch a bit when going from room-to-room on the top floor! We would definitely be more than happy to stay at The Barn again!

We have recently returned from a weekend break at the barn. The location was fantastic if you want a very rural experience. It really did feel like we were in the middle of know where with stunning scenery. The house it’s self could have been a little cleaner and the floorboards were extremely noisy upstairs so it made it hard for us to settle our 7 month old. On the other hand the rooms and amenities were great and we really enjoyed the hot tub.

I booked the Barn for a 40th birthday celebration with friends and we had the most lovely time. The Barn itself is ideal for a large group with a large dining table, wonderful Aga to cook on, and a real fire to sit by. And then there’s the hot tub! The location is fairly remote and really beautiful though I marked it a 9 and not a 10 as the low cloud on the day of arrival made for an interesting drive. Follow the driving instructions to the letter! But it was well worth the journey and with the rest of the weekend sunny, there’s fewer places prettier. As noted in other reviews there’s practically no phone reception, and while the Barn has Wi-fi, no one spent the weekend staring at their phone! Also a mention to the local pub, the Brown Cow Inn. Well worth walking the mile across the fell for a visit. I’d go back in a shot!

Loved the barn. The location is stunning, however not alot directly by the barn. The living space downstairs is cosy and we found it great for our girls weekend away. The bedrooms are fine. The hot tub was nice even in Feb, however no wind breaker or roof over, so exposed to the weather. Nice stay.

Our family stayed at the barn for 1 week over Christmas, location was perfect for what we wanted.the local pub served excellent food. The Barn was absolutely stunning plenty of room for our family of 11 6adults 5 children, I would 100% recommend this cottage and would return and stay again.
