We enjoyed the west coast of Cumbria and it's lovely beaches and mountain views. Cottage was very comfortable and surroundings great. Pond with seat and five Indian Runners (ducks) especially seeing them put to bed. Will b cosy in the winter good heating system.

Fantastic owners very helpful, cottage very pleasant, had everything you need, beds super comfortable, nice quiet location, try the bakery in the village open tues to fri well worth it, everything on your doorstep, also try the hardnott pass only 15 mins from cottage 30% gradient not for the feint hearted, absolutely no complaints about cottage or holiday 1 hour drive to Windermere but worth it...

The owners who live in the adjacent farmhouse are both friendly and helpful in all respects. Set well away from the main road and a quarter of a mile from the village of Gosforth this is a peaceful and relaxing location. Views towards Wasdale are stunning and constant amusement can be had by observing the Indian Runner ducks around the farm pond.

We had a lovely time at this cottage. The hosts were extremely welcoming & nothing was too much trouble for them. The cottage was warm, cosy & well equipped. Lovely garden with masses of snowdrops appearing. We even had a visit from the resident woodpecker. It is ideally placed for visiting nearby lakes yet also very near to the coast. Ideal for our dogs who loved running on Seascale beach. One point I would like to make though is that we weren't too keen on all the doves & pigeons that were flying around the courtyard all the time. There were dozens of them & they made a mess all over our car roof. I also felt that I was stepping in their mess every time I came out of the car / cottage & I didn't think this was very hygienic. This would be particularly relevant if guests had young children with them. This needs to be addressed.

This cottage has a lovely open fire, and plenty of fuel provided. We were very grateful for this as the central heating described on the website is actually storage heaters which are very warm when you get up in the morning but not at all warm the rest of the time. Plug in heaters were provided and we used to to air the cottage out. The bed linen was beautifully clean and fresh but unfortunately this was the only thing that was to this standard. As other reviews have mentioned, a good over all clean is needed of the cottage. While it is difficult to eliminate other people’s dog hairs, there were dog hairs on the blankets from the wardrobe- and dogs are not allowed upstairs. The vacuum cleaner was so very smelly we had to leave it in the boot-store room. The bath needed cleaning but all other bathroom areas were beautifully clean. A previous review says this is a working farm, and while the owners are working farmers, the cottage is not on a ‘working’ farm. The lounge furniture is less than comfortable and not the photographed suite. We took our own throws, and used them to cover the suite. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need, although only 4 cereal bowls, and a lot of chipped items. I repaired the lounge curtains while I was there, they only needed curtain hooks, but these things matter. We had a lovely break as the cottage is in a perfect location, but it’s a shame it is in need of a lot of attention.
