A warm welcome awaits as the driveway winds up towards the Duck House at Huntercrook. With breathtaking views and an idyllic setting, set amidst stunning countryside. The ducks and the wildlife wander freely and the pet sheep graze in the adjacent field. The Duck House shares the extended garden with its neighbour the Huntercrook Lodge and has the most picturesque setting to relax and unwind. A large pond and trickling fountain, decked area and garden seating. In the evenings the romantic setting comes alive with twinkling lights and dark skies.
The original barn has been stylishly restored to provide luxury accommodation, perfect for a romantic staycation or holiday with friends and family. The contemporary living space is open plan, its large floor to ceiling windows taking in the view. A well-equipped shaker style kitchen with breakfast bar opens up to the dining and living area making this a fantastic social space. The luxurious sofa and plush velvet chairs settle in front of the giant Smart TV complete with Netflix to ensure even in the coolest of weathers you are well entertained. The patio doors open out on to a private decked area set with table and chairs, perfect to wander out with a glass of wine on a summers evening and watch as the sun goes down. Off to bed and the two ensuite bedrooms are on the ground floor, beautifully furnished and the super kingsize beds dressed for a high level of comfort (for flexible sleeping they can be twin on request). Both rooms have Smart TV and Netflix. With a generous welcome hamper and complimentary toiletries, you will be well looked after at The Duck House.
Out and about The Duck House sits on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, just a mile away visit the famous Vindolanda Roman Fort and a little further you can discover The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre and the world-famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall and see the most photographed, iconic tree from the movie ‘Robin Hood’. Nearby is the village of Bardon Mill, where there is a lovely picnic area, coffee shop/general store, a hotel serving a varied menu including Thai meals and drinks.
From here catch the train - you can be in Newcastle or Carlisle in under 45 minutes. The historic market town of Hexham has a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the Roman town of Corbridge and meander round its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops, stop for a coffee or take a stroll along the river.
Locally there is an abundance of eateries to choose from. For the golf enthusiast, Close House Golf Course is just a 25-minute drive away. For a day at the races, Hexham racecourse is just 20 minutes’ away. In just over an hour, you can reach the golden beaches at Tynemouth or head further north to explore the Northumberland coastal villages of Amble, Bamburgh, Warkworth and many more.
