The Fisherman’s Cottage is a charming, wee seaside cottage that has been in the owner’s family for many generations. It has been lovingly updated to retain its cosy character and historical significance whilst providing modern comforts right on the shores of beautiful Applecross Bay. Of which you can see out every window. This row of homes was constructed by the Applecross Estate in the 19th Century to provide housing for its workers. It is a listed building on the NC500 route.
Enter through the porch with coat and boot racks, umbrellas, and walking sticks. The cottage has two rooms downstairs, and two rooms upstairs with a bathroom. The sitting room, with tartan carpet and comfortable corner sofas, is a perfect place to relax after a day out in Applecross. Snuggle up by the wood burning hearth on chilly evenings. On the sea front, which is directly opposite the house, is a decking area to enjoy the view.
There’s a wonderful farmhouse kitchen with original oven, and everything needed to prepare meals – pots, pans, bowls, dishware, cutlery – available for guest use. A stovetop Italian coffee maker, French press, toaster, and electric kettle are also provided, along with a microwave in cupboard above double ovens, full size fridge and freezer, a new glass-top electric cooker, dining table with seating for four and a washing machine.
Visit the village shop for basic groceries or order their Holiday Starter Pack online. There are no other grocers in Applecross, so if you plan on making big meals it is recommended to shop in Inverness or Lochcarron prior to your arrival.
Upstairs the first bedroom sleeps two and has a comfortable double bed, furnished with fresh linens and duvet. The second bedroom, across the hall from bedroom one, sleeps two and has two single beds, also with high quality linens and feather duvets, vintage dresser, and nightstands for your belongings. Freshly updated and light, featuring Clement Design Applecross wallpapers and soft furnishings, the bedrooms have the original wooden floors are worn by many generations of the family.
The freshly renovated bathroom on the first floor with views over Applecross Bay is compact yet luxurious, featuring a lovely walk-in shower and underfloor heating for chilly mornings. Fresh towels and lovely Highland body wash/shampoo are provided for your stay.
