Tarbolton close to the town of Ayr is perhaps best known for its strong connections with Robert Burns Scotland’s National Bard. In 1780 Burns set up a debating society at a cottage called the Bachelors’ Club. This authentically restored house now a museum owned by the National Trust for Scotland is open to the public and visitors can explore the venue where Burns would once debate with other members of the Tarbolton parish. \n\nAyrshire is home to the Ayrshire Coastal Path a 100-mile long coastal walk with a fantastic panoramic coastline with views over the sea to the mountains of Arran. The Galloway Forest Park is a short drive away and is Britain’s largest forest park with 300 square miles of wild beauty waiting to be explored. The park boasts tranquil valleys rugged rock faces forest moorland lochs and ancient woodland and a huge diversity of wildlife including red and roe deer wild goats and many birds of prey. The Golden Crown had everything that we needed for our stay and we do believe that the standards were reflective of what we paid. It was clear parts of the house had quite recently been modernised and refurbished which was great - the cinema room, bar area, sauna, steam and most of the bedrooms were perfect. A couple of members of our group had trouble with the comfort of their beds (mainly mattress’s caving in the middle and lots of lumps and bumps) and noted the rooms to be a little aged and tired looking/smelling. We had a couple of leaks through the top floor en-suite due to a bit of a patchwork fix to the sink and the kitchen facilities were quite old looking and the whole area being in need of a good deep clean. The ovens were not the best and it took us over an hour to cook pizzas that required 15 mins. Despite this picky little review the staff were very flexible with check-in and out times and fast responding when the leaks were reported. We had an excellent weekend away and although there wasn’t much to Tarbolton it wasn’t far in the car to lovely walks along the beach and a day out 10 pin bowling. We had great fun in the bar and cinema room and really enjoyed using the spa facilities. There was a shop within walking distance and Bombay Blue wasn’t a bad choice just across the road too! Would recommend the place to anyone relaxed about where they are going who don’t have their standards set too high! Oh and unless you want to have a double sofa bed pulled out over your bedroom door trapping you in for the night we would say 16 is a much more comfortable number than 27 to stay in the property. You would quite literally be tripping over each other with any more!

Best weekend ever!! Spent the full weekend relaxing and watching movies. Food was amazing. Definitely go back.

Fabulous facility. We had an amazing time from start to finish. Perfect for our big group and the bar was perfect for what we needed. The only thing I might say was that sheets weren’t available for all of the fold down beds which we needed And a few of the tables in the bar were a little unsteady but it didn’t make any impact on the stay. Would definitely recommend

Parking is an issue. Only 2 cars can be parked on site. Otherwise one of the best accommodation we stayed...
