The location of The Heron couldn't be any better as it's right on the Loch. Shame about the weather but that can't be helped. Our holiday was relaxing. The view from the windows are spectacular. The binoculars and telescope are much appreciated. The dogs loved being in the water every day! The garden is safe for them. All surrounding areas are very dog friendly and we found all the people we met very friendly. Would love to stay there again. 😊🐾👍

The Heron is a great cottage views and location, the nearest shop was a garage near Dunoon a few miles away but they had all we needed. Looking out over the Loch in the morning with a brew couldnt beat it.We went for weeks sea fishing but the fishing was poor, price for a week was a little steep but the views in the surrounding area are priceless.

4th visit to the Heron and we really do love the cottage and the area. Over the years improvements have been made new electric heaters, soft furnishings etc but this time I have to be honest the internal paintwork throughout was looking very tired otherwise it’s fantastic.

Stunning location, lovely space, so peaceful and relaxing with great walks on your door step. Could have done with a little welcome pack as there are no shops or deliveries available and we arrived very late at night but would definitely recommend and go back.

We have spent the last two Christmas’s at The Heron. It has been delightful, the cottage is spacious and comfortable with a lovely log burner. The views of the seals playing in the loch are precious making the holiday special. The locals are so friendly and welcoming and the walks nearby were loved by our dogs.

The Heron was a great place to stay for a 'get away from it all' holiday. We were very comfortable, quiet and found the cottage to be extremely well-equipped - just what we wanted. Super handy for walks from the doorstep with our dog, and having the shore directly opposite was great. If the weather is bad don't worry, you can idle away hours just watching for wildlife and ship spotting on the loch - which is what we enjoyed doing. The local pub/restaurant was unfortunately closed for winter but The Whistlefield Inn a few miles drive away is a must for great food and a friendly welcome. Dogs welcome too! An abundance of walks in the area either from door or a few miles in car. I have to say we've never stayed anywhere where there has been such a plethora of information regarding walks in the area, or been provided with such great facilities for wildlife spotting (binoculars enough for every room). Most thoughtful and helpful. We'd happily stay again, although just a couple of points to make: There are way too many notices up around the cottage. I know some people can be a bit dim and don't use common sense to work out how things operate (believe me I know!!!) but surely better to have all information in welcome folder relating to heaters, fire, hot water, recycling, cleaning, etc etc rather than notices everywhere? It detracts from the look of the place. A king-sized bed would have been nicer as there is plenty of room. The most disappointing thing was that there was no welcome pack even though it clearly states there is one on booking details, not even a drop of milk to make a cuppa after a long, eight hour journey! We've stayed in many self-catering establishments over the years and this is the first time we weren't greeted with any welcome pack at all. Luckily we had been to the shop on drive over and bought essentials to start trip. I'd advise anyone booking to shop before arrival as nearest decent shops are in Dunoon, about a twenty minute drive away.
