A wander up the hill from Bowness to Windermere offers guests further shops, many fine independent retailers, and an excellent choice of eateries. Beach 19 miles.     Property wasn't cleaned from previous rental - bed still had previous linen still on it, dirty towels lying on the floor, food left in fridge, bins not emptied etc etc. Cleaners arrived about 1700 and did a good job. Whilst the property is in a central location it is right above a row of shops. It is actually above an Italian restaurant and is very noisy from 0800 until midnight. Also bedroom faces the main road into Bowness and there is a lot of traffic noise. The flat itself is modern and well equipped. Bit of a trek from the car park up numerous stairs so if infirm wouldn't recommend it. All in all had a nice holiday which was married at the start with the cleaning issue. If all you want is a place to sleep which is central then it's fine but I wouldn't use it again.

    The Apartment was a very nice place to stay, its near to all the restaurants and in walking distance of the Lake Windermere. The only problems we found was the traffic noise as the bedroom was facing the main road and the Electric Shower didn't work properly as it was either too hot or too cold. The mirror in the bathroom was too high for us to see in. however, a very clean nice modern place to stay.

    The flat itself is nice - if/when you eventually manage to find it (selling it as a cottage is a stretch to say the least). But it’s above an Italian restaurant, the heat comes up from their ovens turning the flat into a furnace. You open the windows to cool down and the noise from the bars and restaurants is ridiculous. So you have a choice.. struggle to sleep due to heat, or struggle to sleep due to noise! The other big issue is the bin. There were no instructions about what to do with full bin bags, we tried to find out where the outdoor bins were but were unsuccessful. The result was, we were left with full rubbish bags in the kitchen. We only stayed for 4 days and they were really starting to smell, I really feel for anyone staying for a week or 2. It’s a nice enough flat and catered to all of our needs, but there are definitely things that could be improved, ie, thicker windows and fans. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

    Lovely little flat,everything you need for a short break.Clean & tidy comfy bed,plenty of storage. Only downside was being above the restaurant - noisy most nights from staff leaving.Occasional loud passers by also after closing time! Otherwise perfect base for the Lakes.

    This was a great little apartment close to local amenities with the bonus of a parking space. We were there for the great north swim/run and it was ideal for local buses to and from the event. Easy access by car to all north and western Lakeland fells. Would definitely consider booking again.

    The Hollies is a lower floor flat above the Quarry rig shopping area. It's is clean with plenty of space for two people. It is centrally located within short walking distance of all that Bowness has to offer. The parking instructions and location of the flat is not clear and could be improved. Further to this the instructions state that the parking is not designated but 'in the quarry rig parking area itself'. However if you turn right on entering the car park and drive behind the flats at the far end there is a designated parking slot for this flat. The number is on a plack on the wall. There is some road noise during the night and the flat is above a restaurant which closes around 11pm. The only issue we had was the low water pressure which affects the shower. Other than that it's a nice flat and an exellent centre from which to explore the area.

    The directions to find entrance could have been clearer and explained it was between charity shop and Italian restaurants. Stairs up to flat maybe hard for less abled. At quiet times loading bay in front could be used. Is there recycling bins- I did put some items to one side. Very good to have COop next door and Angel pub was very good.

    Couple of minor issues - bedroom faces due East with light curtains, so light sleepers like me will be woken very early. However that means more time to enjoy the lakes. Water pressure in the shower is relatively low. Other than these points it is a great little flat a short walk from the lakeside. There is a restaurant below the flat, but heard very little noise from it. Highly recommend this flat.
