These two 5* holiday farm cottages are located on the private Drewton Estate in the East Riding of Yorkshire, on the edge of Hockney’s infamous and beautiful Wolds Way. The cottages date back to the 1800’s, and have been lovingly converted to an extremely high standard with care taken to retain original beams and open brickwork, whilst keeping modern comforts. The Old Cowshed is on ground floor level, with a ramped access to the rear of the property, making it suitable for wheelchair use. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome and a kennel is available. On arrival, guests will find a delicious cake with fresh milk, tea, coffee and a fruit selection, so simply pop the kettle on and relax!
During the cooler months, eco friendly heating is provided by a biomass boiler using renewable energy from the Estate.
Guests can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside. The Drewton Estate is set in 1200 acres of stunning farmland, with footpaths and bridleways available for leisurely walks. Keen ramblers can easily explore the Yorkshire Wolds, North York Moors and the east coast.
The cottages offer a perfect location for bird watchers, with the magnificent resident Red Kite birds of prey. The North Cave Wetlands are in the local village and are a haven for wildlife and birdlife throughout the seasons. There are loads of activities on the doorstep, including a tennis court, reflexology treatments, Nordic walking and organised shooting weekends, which can be arranged ahead of your stay.
The medieval town of Beverley, with its Minster and racecourse, is only a fifteen minute drive away, and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast and historic city of York are also within easy reach and are well worth a visit.
Ahead of your stay, guests will receive links to local walks, places of interest, restaurants and things to do in the local area. The cottages are also ideally located so that you can enjoy the award-winning farm shop, which is well worth a visit! It offers daily brunch, lunch and afternoon tea menus in its popular restaurant. The shop boasts a reputable fresh butcher’s counter, with the deli serving homemade pies and pastries, along with a great range of fresh ready meals, platters and grab ’n’ go picnics. Fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, jams and pickles, ice cream, pantry good, spirits and ales are just some of the range of offer, promoting many of the farm’s 250 local Yorkshire producers, farmers and growers.
For those wishing to gather family and friends together for special occasions, The Manor Rooms, also on the Drewton Estate, offers the perfect space for weddings and private functions for up to 220 guests.
