There are a few niggly points - for example, the ceiling above the shower needs repapering/repainting, some of the internal door catches were difficult to latch securely, but apart from minor issues, it is a lovely holiday home with plenty of character (mind some of the low doorways that make up part of the character!) There was plenty of room, a very large lounge area easily able to cope with the whole party. The owner Sue was helpful, and available if needed, otherwise let us get on with our stay. The area is brilliant (we haven't been there before) with loads of things to do and places to visit. The only downside is that if you're addicted to WiFi, you shouldn't go. If you want to get away from WiFi, do go! Thoroughly recommended.

Well situated generally although there are restrictions on where to park with in the property because of owners car/cars. Good size rooms, kitchen really needs a much bigger fridge for up to 8 people & a dishwasher also - could easily be housed in the utility room. Small outside area, (semi enclosed with fencing therefore no views) not really an area that you would sit out in.

We had a lovely stay at the old farmhouse. Upon arrival the house was very clean and well presented. The location is great with lots of family days out a short drive away. The forest of Dean is beautiful with plenty of great walks on the doorstep. The house was well equiped and spacious, comfortably fitting 6 adults and 2 children. Unfortunately the washing machine did break during our stay but that's just one of those things that can't be helped. We really enjoyed our time at the old farmhouse and wouldnt hesitate to book again. I would highly recommend.

    Perfect for two families

Despite members of our party unable to be with us due to illness we enjoyed our stay. It was a chillout weekend with good friends to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary which we thoroughly enjoyed. We visited Chepstow and Monmouth and rode on the Forest of Dean Railway steam train. We had a great meal at the White Swann at Broad Oak as well using the local Chinese takeaway Jimmy's Kitchen in Lydney. The only criticism was the lack of wifi but that for a weekend was not a deal breaker. Overall a great house in a nice location with plenty to do.

Great all round experience spacious and lovely surroundings good get away to escape the hustle and bustle of life

This was a family event of 6 adults and two children. We all had a lovely time. The house was comfy and warm with plenty of space for all of us. This would be a lovely location for the spring or summer months.

    Very atmospheric

The cottage was adequate if a bit tired, but for a cottage that accommodated 8 people a dishwater would have been welcome given the amount of washing up that was created. Although there were enough glasses they were a mixture of all shapes and sizes and not uniform. The hot water supply was intermittent and often tepid the afternoon when everyone wanted a shower after a days walking.
