Glamping means different things to different people. At The Retreat it means sleeping in a beautiful Bell Tent (each on their own decking), with a stove, kettle, private facilities, a real king-size bed and a proper mattress. Each tent can comfortably accommodate up to four guests, with two guests bringing their own camping beds and bedding. Clover is an Emperor Bell Tent measured at 4 metres x 6 metres and is located in the glamping area at The Retreat, within the gardens overlooking the Lake and fields. Bedding and towels are provided for up to two guests and the space will fit two additional camping/ blow up beds/roll mats comfortably in case guests would like to bring their own extra beds. The private facilities include a shower, toilet, toiletries, camping kitchen with gas hob and grill, camping fridge, cutlery, crockery, glasses, washing bowel, tea towel and a bin.
A stay at The Retreat means settling down in a bell tent including a woodburning stove and a real bed with a soft feather duvet and proper mattress, with nothing but the sound of the birds, sheep and Jersey cows to disturb you from staring out at views of the far-reaching countryside. If that sounds a little too serene, activities at the park are centred around the farm and surrounding rural area of north Devon: you can fish at the lake, feed the chickens or play tennis on the all-season court (bring a racket) on site. Lots of outdoor space is around for kids to play on and a games barn with a pool table, table tennis and darts should keep them entertained if it’s raining out.
Whilst many come to the glamping site to simply unwind and get away from it all there are a plethora of activities to make your stay enjoyable and interesting. Many choose to explore the wide open spaces of Exmoor National Park and the beautiful North Devon coastline. The accommodation is located just fifteen minutes from the A361 North Devon Link Road ensuring easy access to the glorious beaches at Saunton Sands or Woolacombe, both ideal for surfers or bathers alike. South Molton is also located a short distance away with its Farmers and Pannier markets held each week and a full range of shops, pubs and a supermarket. The larger town of Barnstaple is within 21 miles with numerous shops, a theatre and cinema. Back in your bell tent after sandy sunbathing days or windswept walks, you can cosy up on the floor cushions and rugs while drinking the tea and coffee provided. Wake up, refreshed, to far reaching views over miles of countryside and on your doorstep the lake & ponies.
Buttercup (UKC4938) can be booked together with West Anstey Farmhouse (UKC4936), The Den (UKC4937), Poppy (UKC4939), Clover (UKC4940), Cornflower (UKC4941) and Cowslip (UKC4942) to accommodate up to 33 guests.
