Originally built in the 1850’s, this charming property now offers a cosy retreat for couples within walking distance of the facilities within the picturesque village of Ovington set within the Tyne Valley. Ovington is situated just over a mile from Prudhoe, where there is a Riverside Country Park on the banks of the river Tyne close by. Prudhoe sits equidistant between Hexham to the west and Gateshead to the east; both being 13 miles.

    A lovely cottage, really well thought out and finished to a very good standard. Quiet rural location with lots to see and do in the surrounding area and just a short drive from Newcastle. A great get-away.

    Very comfortable exceptionally clean accommodation. Very friendly welcome and the cottage was equipped with everything you could possibly need. Conveniently placed for exploring the extremely abundant historical sites in the area. There is no parking directly outside the cottage but only a short walk to the parking on the main road.

    Loved our stay - our second visit here. The cottage is so clean, warm and cosy. The location is great - quiet village but easy access to Newcastle, Northumberland and Durham by car. Newcastle city was a simple train ride from Prudhoe village, just 1 mile from the cottage. Excellent value for money overall and so much nicer than a hotel. We will be back.

    Beautiful cottage in a lovely location, perfect to explore the sights of Northumberland. Had a fantastic stay here, the cottage had everything you could possibly need for a short getaway. Would definitely recommend!

    The cottage was charming, warm and clean. It had everything we needed inside. However it was at the top of a narrow lane with no outlook or access to our car. It was particularly difficult to exercise our dogs as the door opened onto the lane with no close grass.

    Very nice place and location and the people who own the Smithy very helpful Not very much to do nearest shop is about 11/2 miles away. Parking the car is a bit of a problem you have to park down the bottom of the terrace and you need to park it right so you don't block other cars. Walks are good we have 2 dogs so they were out and about quite a bit. Any one who has knee problems may have a little bit of a problem with getting to the bedroom bathroom and living room being upstairs. I have to say I am NOT knocking the place just saying beware of ……. otherwise really great
