Initial fuel for open fire included. Travel cot and highchair. Welcome pack. Lawned garden with sitting-out area covered BBQ area and garden furniture. Grassed area with outdoor games. Bike store with 2 electric bikes. Private parking for 2 cars. Please note The property has a natural water supply from a borehole. Situated just a mile outside the famous and charming village of Goathland Tilly’s Cottage has the best of both worlds easy access to all the area has to offer and peace and quiet however busy it is in the village. The owner has also provided use of two Pendleton electric bikes for guests use - a fun and easier way to explore Goathland Darnholme Beck Hole the ’Roman Road’ and perhaps even Egton.\n\nTilly’s Cottage is part of Thornhill Farm a working moorland sheep farm which is known to go back to at least the early 17th century when it was sold by James I. Tilly’s Cottage itself was part of the Victorian development in the 1860s and retains many of its original features like the low beams open range fire and ’coffin drop’. This traditionally decorated peaceful homely and deceptively large cottage is surrounded by fields and open moorland and is both a wonderful place to relax and a great base for further explorations. One of the first floor bedrooms and the second floor bedroom each have wonderful moorland views.\n\nKnown to millions as ’Aidensfield’ from the Yorkshire television series ’Heartbeat’ there is much to recognise in Goathland and Tilly’s Cottage itself was used many times in the filming. Beyond Goathland lies Whitby with its beautiful harbour abbey ruins cliff-top golf fish and chips and story of Dracula. Both Whitby and the charming town of Pickering can be reached by the steam train from Goathland which runs alongside one of Thornhill’s fields enabling guest to take unique close-up pictures of the trains steaming along. Shop pub and restaurant 1½ miles.\nTilly’s Cottage can be booked together with Gable End Cottage ref UK2373 to accommodate up to 10 guests." https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/107/840/10710559.jpg 27184

A lovely cottage with lots of character. Well maintained and very clean. Set up for pets is excellent with a gate the bottom of the stairs and doors which close so that they are contained on a nighttime. Lovely touch of Yorkshire brack, biscuits and tea/coffee sachets provided. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to recommend the cottage.

The Cottage was very welcoming.  The owners checked in with is to ask if everything was ok for us. We found Tilly's to be very comfortable cosy warm throughout and we are so pleased we were able to have a 2 week stay here and hope to be able to book Tilly's again.

We had a lovely weekend in this cottage to celebrate my mum's birthday. The location surrounded by the beautiful yorkshire moors is stunning and so atmospheric. The cottage is spacious yet warm and cosy, and the walk up to front door is so sweet- like something out of a novel. There is a walk into goathland straight from the farm (take your walking boots!) and the tea room there is very nice. We have a crawling 1 year old and the cottage was pleasant and safe for him too- there's a stair gate, cot and high chair. The only tiny suggestion I would make is to include a pair of scissors in the utensil drawer. We will definitely return here!
