Trefoil Treat is a lovely little semi-detached cottage set on the edge of the small village of Rhonehouse close to Castle Douglas in this beautiful corner of Dumfries and Galloway. Rhonehouse is a quiet little village around 2 miles from the market town of Castle Douglas. This small, delightful market town offers an array of independent shops selling produce and quality gifts and many lovely cafés, pubs and restaurants to enjoy a meal in, as well as excellent butchers and food shops for you to sample the local produce. On a fine day for the more energetic you can walk into Castle Douglas along quiet country lanes where you will pass NTS Threave Gardens a wonderful and beautiful garden and definitely worth a visit. Indeed there are an abundance of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep around quiet country lanes. You are ideally placed at Trefoil Treat for exploring this beautiful corner of south west Scotland. There are attractions in abundance, from beautiful sandy beaches to dramatic cliff tops. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is something for everyone.
Close to the Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in Europe, and for the more adventurous cyclist amongst you can try your hand on the 7Stanes mountain bike tracks at Dalbeattie or Mabie Forest. For those with young children, there are a number of great days out, from some of the finest sandy beaches to farm parks, including Ernespie Farm Park just a 10 minute car journey. A wander round the lovely harbour town of Kirkcudbright is also a must, where you can visit Broughton House, home of the artist E A Hornel, and stroll down to the harbour where you can watch the fishing boats returning.
