Dalton-in-Furness itself is full of ancient history, with Dalton Castle dating back to the 14th century. There is an array of pubs, restaurants, cafés and supermarkets to take advantage of. Close by is the popular South Lakes Wild Animal Park, very much concerned with conservation, this park is a great place to visit with your family. Just 10 minutes’ drive away is the charming town of Ulverston, there is plenty of choice with local pubs, restaurants and boutique shops!
Ulverston is also famous for the stunning Manjushri Kadampa Buddhist Meditation Centre where people come to visit from all over the world. To the north of Dalton-in-Furness is the spectacular Duddon Estuary and Duddon Valley, and Cartmel and Grizedale Forest are also within easy reach. Another local attraction close by is the steam train from Haverthwaite up to Windermere on the Haverthwaite Steam Railway. The cottage is easily able to accommodate people who rely on mobility aids such as wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The spacious open-plan living area provides plenty of space to move around. There is also step-free access from the cottage onto the patio and garden areas. Whilst there is a wet room on the ground floor, there are no accessibility handrails fitted. However, we can provide a shower seat and a removable ramp for the car park on request. The cottage is located on a private secluded plot of land surrounded by trees and fields. Parts of the land to the rear of the cottage are used to store working machinery used to tend the nearby fields. This machinery includes diggers and other soil moving apparatus. However, to ensure that this doesn’t detract from your slice of the countryside, 6ft safety barrier has been erected to hide the machinery from view. The machinery will be static and never in use during your stay.
Briar Cottage can be booked together with Bramble Cottage (UK33714) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
