Lovely cottage. Only problem was that there was a weird smell downstairs. Wish it was dog friendly.

Fantastic central location and lots of good restaurants nearby. Cottage is nicely decorated and comfortable. Only downside (which is more an Ambleside issue) is parking - cottage comes with permits for street which holds a few cars if you get lucky, or public car parks which is great but a bit of a pain when loading / unloading

Excellent week in a very well provisioned cottage, which was perfect for the three of us. More than that may have felt a little cosy, but for us it was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

Central location, great facilities, comfortable and feels very homely. You get views up to the hills from the bedrooms, and the nearest car park is just a minute away if you can't get parked up outside. Great value for money and I'd recommend this cottage to friends and family

We had a wonderful Christmas week at Wansfell Cottage. Its central position in Ambleside was perfect. Cinema, Shops, fells....all on the doorstep. The cottage was brilliant. Bigger than expected and perfect for 6 people. A quaint typically Cumbrian cottage with lovely modern decoration throughout the house. Bathrooms and bedrooms were of a high standard. Unfortunately too warm over Christmas to use the wood burner but I'm sure we will return again and sit around the wonderful fire in the living room. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better we were given 2 car parking permits which were certainly appreciated at this time of year.

This house was very cold, especially the kitchen, and the front room was only marginally better. And we were not there on an especially cold week. There was no information on the heating controls or how to set them. Despite my best efforts I could not get the heating to come on automatically so the house was never warm when we got back at in the evening. The only warm room downstairs was the sitting room when the stoves was lighting, and that room could not have fitted in 6 people so I can't imagine what we would have done if we had 6 people staying. The upstairs of the house was warm enough, it was just the living spaces that were a problem. Also the couches were very uncomfortable and far too large for the room they were in. Maybe this house is ok for summer use, but I would definitely not recommend it in Autumn.
