This comfortable wing of the owner’s traditional Cumbrian farmhouse, set in half an acre of shared grounds, is surrounded by open moorland with grazing sheep and wonderful views up the valley. The area offers fell walking, sailing and riding at Coniston, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and an exhilarating drive over Hardknott Pass to visit the Roman Fort and much more. Families will enjoy the sand and shingle beach at Silecroft (8 miles). Shop ½ mile, a local pub serving excellent food 3 miles up the valley.

    Were greeted with a fresh pot of tea and biscuits which was welcome after our journey. Has everything you need but make sure you bring groceries with you as there are no shops in village for useful supplies. Beautiful and quiet. Would visit again.

    Fantastic break in a secluded and beautiful part of the world. Our hosts were very hospitable and made our stay perfect! The location makes for an ideal base to explore all the fantastic countryside, with walks right from the front door!

    One of the best cottages we have stayed in anywhere. Philip and Eddy were there when we arrived to welcome us and show us round the cottage. The cottage is clean, tidy, comfortable and well equipped, even has good internet connection The cottage is in a fantastic location for walking from the door and plenty of scope for visiting the other Valleys and Lakes within a 30 minute drive. Some lovely Pub Restaurants nearby but it is necessary to drive to them, so you need be careful of the Herdwick Sheep kipping in the road when driving at night.

    Idyllic location, cleaned to the highest standard, all the equipment you need, perfect real fire. Traditional high quality furniture in keeping with the age and style of the cottage. Lovely walks from the door to view the local surroundings and market villages within easy driving distance. Even a woodpecker visited each day.

    One of the best cottages we have stayed in, we received a very warm welcome, spotlessly clean, well equipped, wonderful scenery, so peaceful, fell in love with the Herdwick sheep outside. Definitely on the list to return too. So grateful the owners allow us to share their home and have a wonderful holiday.
