At the front of the property, you have a lawned garden with seating area on the patio, with a footpath leading to the front door. Stepping inside the hallway leads you to the welcoming front lounge, with a wood burning stove providing warmth as well as a cosy atmosphere. There is also a second lounge, also equipped with its own wood burner so that you can branch out into separate rooms in an evening if you wish. The kitchen is bright and modern with a separate dining room with patio doors leading out into the rear garden. If you enjoy cooking then this is a great choice as the kitchen equipment goes that little step further with a popcorn maker, ice cream crepe and bread maker and antique tea services in the cupboard. There are also flasks, picnic sets and a bucket BBQ to take out on a walk or to the beach. The ground floor is completed with a toilet for added convenience. Upstairs there are two well-presented double bedrooms with feature fireplace (decoration only). The owners have paid careful attention to detail and a lot of love has gone into furnishing each room with original artwork as well as hand sewn quilts and cushions, making this a unique place to stay. The bathroom has both a bath as well as a cubicle shower so that you have the option of both.
Sure to delight you is the Swedish style hot tub in the garden, which is heated by a log burning stove, where you can relax and unwind after a day’s sightseeing. It doesn’t require harsh chemical cleaners so you can relax and enjoy the health giving properties of the hot tub with the gentle scent of wood smoke from the hot tub chimney. Finally there is a charcoal fired outdoor pizza oven if you fancy trying your hand at making fresh home-made pizza in the traditional way.
Willowfield Cottage is ideal for families, romantic getaways, time away with friends, or for walkers or cyclists looking to explore the local area. You are located very close to the centre of the village and its independent shops, pubs, tearooms and ice cream parlour. Thornton-Le-Dale attracts many visitors, who come to soak up the picture perfect scenery, following footpaths as well as the stream which meanders through the village. You are just a few minutes’ drive to the popular market town of Pickering with the North Yorkshire Heritage Railway where you can board a steam train running along the picturesque Esk Valley to reach the historic coastal town of Whitby as well as stopping at some beautiful villages across the national park on the way. Some popular attractions such as Dalby forest, Flamingo Land theme park as well as Castle Howard are an easy drive away and the property is just 18 miles from the coast or a 40 minute drive to York. Logs and kindling for the fire and hot tub can be purchased in the village along with charcoal for the pizza oven. The village is a hive of activity, firstly in August with their scarecrow weekend and village show, and again in October, when the nearby village of Pickering hosts its 1940s War Weekend and again in December for the annual Christmas lights and féte. All year round this is a beautiful destination with plenty to see and do nearby.
