Woodside is more than a lodge, it is a beautifully appointed, cosy and indulgent holiday retreat with all mod cons and excellent insulation and with the addition of the hot tub it is an all year round destination. There is something deliciously romantic about sipping champagne from the hot tub whilst surrounded by a winter wonderland, or in the summer, with a good book and a glass of wine. This is a super location for cyclists whatever their ability, from serious mountain bikers to family fun rides, as Woodside backs on to the Mabie Forest. You can see the site of both the Red and Purple rides of the 7Stanes from the lodge and the owner will provide guided tours by bike or on foot by arrangement. This beautiful area has so much to offer. As well as the renowned mountain biking, The Galloway Forest Park is the UK’s largest and there are hidden waterfalls, mountains, wildlife and lochs and on a clear night it is one of the best places in the western world to view the stars. For foodies this is the land of milk and honey and you can sample some great cuisine at a choice of restaurants across the country. Castle Douglas is known as The Food Town and you can savour the flavours at an excellent choice of shops. The New Loch Arthur Farm Shop at Beeswing is just a mile away and offers local home made cheeses and everyday items. Dumfries and Galloway is one of Scotland’s best kept secrets; come and see why!
