In a great location it lies 1 mile outside the ever popular seaside resort of Lyme Regis and the stunning World Heritage Jurassic Coast with its wonderful walks and scenery. Had a great stay last weekend at Yawl House with my wife, her 92 & 93 year old parents, 3 of our children and their partners and our 2 year old granddaughter. The owner was excellent. He came and met us, explained everything and then was on the end of the phone if required, letting us enjoy his house uninterrupted. Yes you can be picki - cannot walk to pub and the lounge furniture very low and does need replacing - or does it? as all spotlessly clean our overhaul rating of 10 sums up our visit. We will definitly be returning in the summer. Thank you to the owner for letting us share your great house for a few days.

Lovely house for big groups. Very well equipped and surprise welcome hamper! Good layout. All the little useful things were there too.... Coffee & tea, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towels, toilet rolls! Quite a busy B road next to property, but good garden and views. Would love to return in the future! Plenty to do and see in Lyme Regis... Only 5 min drive away.

A property with character. No en suite bathrooms if you need that sort of thing. Other tiny criticisms outweighed by wonderful welcome pack! Warm and comfortable during weekend of Storm Dennis. Friendly owner lives next door. Would stay there again.

A wonderful homely, cheerful and spacious property with bags of charm. The owner leaves enough good quality sundries to use (bubble bath, hand wash, toilet rolls). the kitchen is well equipped and has a lovely AGA to leave slow cooking meals on the go all day. The dining room has a massive table to seat 12 to bring the whole party together and enough little rooms for kids/teens to go and have some time out should they wish. The back garden is enclosed and safe. The owner was really friendly but not intrusive. We have already booked to go back! Only negative points are the windows can rattle in the wind and you need to use the car as the road isn’t safe for walking. Overall, a great place to explore the Jurassic coast.

A great venue for a family get together. There is loads of room for 12 around the dining table and three other rooms to relax in. The children can have their own space or interact with adults. The kitchen has a definite farmhouse feel about it with the Aga spreading a cosy warmth throughout.

Lovely long weekend break, despite the stormy weather! Very pleasant and helpful owner. Ideal for a large group get-together.

We rented Yawl House as the venue for a family birthday celebration for 5 adults and 2 children and it proved to be excellent. It was spacious and welcoming and very well appointed. The Aga in the kitchen was a real bonus. Having Richard on site just next door was very reassuring, although we did not need to trouble him nor he us. The welcome pack was a nice touch and helped everything get off to a great start. In inclement weather we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area from Portland Bill to the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. Everyone came home with a personal collection of fossils.

The house is very comfortable and surfaces clean . The owner could not have been more helpful. We did have a few issues in that , the kitchen was extremely hot from the aga so we had to have windows and curtains open to be comfortable and so had many crane flies and moths visit. The hot water in the showers and kitchen was a problem as it was too hot and the flushing mechanism on the wet room toilet did not turn off easily. The garden is lovely , plenty of room to run around and the conservatory is a bonus. We had an18mths and 3 and half year old with us and we had to create a blockade to keep the children away from a greenhouse that had loose glass. We gave a 5 for local amenities as the local pub was closed. Also, the 7 for location was because the house is on quite a busy road and lights from the traffic lit up the garden bedrooms at night.
