Set in the grounds of the owner’s home, which extend to 20-acres, these charming former stables are surrounded by wonderful countryside and have been converted to a very good standard. It is a superbly convenient holiday base for the world heritage city of Bath with it’s historic buildings, world famous theatre and river trips, as well as the city of Wells, Glastonbury Tor, Longleat House and Safari Park, Chedder Gorge and caves, Stourhead and Wookey Hole. Close by is the village of Kilmersden, home to the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. There are local shops and a takeaway in the village of Coleford 2 miles away. There are several sandy and dramatic coastal beaches to the west and south, such as Lyme Regis, Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea. It also makes a perfect place from which to cycle, walk, play golf and horse ride. There are facilities on site to bring your own horse by prior arrangement with the owner. Shop and pub with food 1.5 miles.

We enjoyed our stay at 2 Luckington Stables. The owner was very friendly and helpful if you needed anything. If you have dogs the front garden is secure but the back garden isn't. It's great for playing ball or frisbee in which our dog loves and there's seating in both areas. The layout of the property is good and the bathroom is a great size. The 4 poster bed is comfortable. The property is located in a nice quiet area and a good base to travel from, however, it's looking very tired and could do with a makeover. Comfortable sofas would be nice and the supply of a vacuum cleaner which picked up dog hairs would be good.

On arrival found that the kitchen could have done with a good clean .. dead flies stuck to grease on extractor fan.. cobwebs on ceiling etc. Heating did not work so bedding was very damp and place was cold. Could do with a good refurbishment very dated. Rear garden not secure so my dogs were able to run around the stables right next door. The kennels that they said we could use were not fit for purpose and they could do with a complete overall. Wouldn’t recommend. Nothing really local to do.

The property lacked any information on how to work the appliances, some of the lights, heaters and other items didn't work or made concerning sounds. It was also not very clean. For the cost it was not worth it. Would not stay there again or recommend to others.
Spacious and lovely location but no basics provided, such as washing up liquid, tea, coffee or a pint of milk. Very poor standard of cleaning, we had to take apart shower plug hole to clean it to stop it from over-flowing, ivy growing through windows, tv and oven very difficult to work.
