Welcome to Bay Tree Shepherds Hut, a beautifully handcrafted hut located on a peaceful site in the hamlet of Forton, near Chard. Inside, the hut has a wonderful central open plan living area, dining area and kitchen, the latter of which has been bespoke made and is perfect for creating a light meal or hearty breakfast. The living area has a cosy wood burner, perfect to snuggle up in front of after being in the fabulous hot tub. The cabin-style bedroom has a double bed with a window looking out over the fields beyond. You also have a full shower room with a toilet. Outside you will find your private decked area with a firepit, comfy garden furniture and your wood fired hot tub, it really is the perfect spot for a romantic retreat or an escape to the country.
If you can tear yourself away from this beautiful shepherd’s hut you will find a wealth of things to do nearby. Directly from the hut you have miles and miles of walks and so much countryside to explore, for keen cyclists, the Sustrans Route 33 is just a mile away. The market town of Chard is within a few minute’s drive with its leisure centre and pool, supermarkets, shops, restaurants and pubs, while you are there check out the museum for a glimpse of Somerset’s local history.
There are many country pubs serving home-cooked food within a short drive or a slightly longer walk. The beaches of Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seaton are reached in around 20 minutes, stroll the promenade, have an ice cream or even spend some time trying to discover fossils! The local 18-hole golf club is just a 5-minute drive away and the 19th hole serves some great food too for those who golf and those who don’t. Beach 12 miles. Pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
