A relaxing retreat on the shores of Loch Long, 5 minutes from the famous Eilean Donan Castle and 20 minutes from the Isle of Skye. This detached, architect-designed house provides comfort and spectacular views. Built by the owner on the family croft, An t-Iolaire (meaning the eagle) provides a warm Gaelic welcome for you, whether you want to explore the west coast and Skye, climb the many Munros nearby or simply sit and watch the tide going in and out from the comfort of any of the rooms, as they all have loch views. The open-plan living space allows you to share each other’s company while doing separate activities. The full-height ceiling, with windows to the sky, provide a sense of space and an opportunity to view the stars from the comfort of the living room. The separate galleried landing creates a separate space where you can overlook the living room or look out to the hills while you read, catch up on emails or plan the next day. The first floor offers a kingsize bedroom with an en-suite, ideal for a long soak in the bath after a day on the hills or a refreshing rain shower. Downstairs, the bedroom can be either a twin or super kingsize bed. This is next to the spacious shower room with its walk-in rain shower. Built to modern insulation standards, it has air-source underfloor heating and an electric wood burner, the house is cosy and environmentally friendly, with a car-charging point (charges apply). Local stone and wood are features on the outside of the ‘viewing room’ and inside it provides the ideal spot to watch for shore life such as otters, salmon leaping, herons and other birds, and overhead, the golden and sea-eagles that live all around. Binoculars are provided!
