Millstream is a light and airy cottage situated in The Butts (the old area), of Alston in the stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It enjoys private parking and beautiful views onto the local church. Millstream has a historic feature of The Butts, and where the cottages are situated is the old mill race which actually runs below our other three cottages. It emerges in an open leat, a stone built channel in the terrace just outside the French windows of the living room, so Millstream is truly blessed with the relaxing sound of flowing water. This apartment has a light and airy feel with a large window area overlooking the patio and millrace. and is a great place to relax and unwind and also to be creative.
Enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful South Tyne valley from Alston station on the South Tynedale railway, with vintage steam or diesel locomotives. Fishing, riding and golf are available nearby. Follow some of the local rambles or the Pennine Way. The glorious coast and countryside of Northumbria is within travelling distance, as are the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish Borders. There are water sports at Talkin and Kielder Water. Gateshead is only an hour away, with a large shopping centre, restaurants and a ten screen cinema. Alternatively, just stay home and relax with Alston’s quaint cobbled main street, a range of individual shops, character inns, restaurants and tea rooms. Within the area is an historical Roman fort and tourists will enjoy the museums, exhibitions and sites along Hadrian’s Wall. Pub and restaurant 176 yards.
Millstream (UK1532) can be booked together with Sowerberry (UK1533) and Naworth (UK1534) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
