There are 7 steps in the garden.\n \u003e Once a humble thatch roof and clom cob walled cottage traditional for this area of Ceredigion Soar Cottage is anything but humble now. It has proved difficult to date the cottage exactly but this type of cottage was prevalent in the 16th century and will certainly date back to at least the mid 18th century. The cottages were typically built of local readily available materials including walls built of compacted earth straw and small stones called clom. The thatch consisted of heather and gorse and earth clods covered with rushes and local straw. Soar Cottage followed the layout of a rural Welsh long house and consisted of a one room parlour with adjacent bedroom and dairy and built on to this was a cow shed for milking cows for the house and a calf pen and pig sty. During WWI many traditional crafts such as thatching were lost due to large loss of life and it was only the use of zinc sheeting to cover the roof that saved these houses. The last known inhabitants brought up thirteen children in the cottage but it was abandoned in the early 1960s.\nThe new owner has been painstaking in the desire to ensure the cottage was restored to the highest standard showcasing the talents of local craftsmen. The addition of a Welsh oak frame sun room and a new thatch roof completes this absolutely stunning cottage. As you enter Soar Cottage you will be instantly struck by the luxurious interior and no expense has been spared in creating an aspirational holiday home. From sumptuous soft furnishings throughout to the handmade kitchen with granite worktops and the additional personal touches you will find nothing lacking here. Outside across the cobble and stone patio there’s a lovely hot tub and a raised lawned garden with amazing views across the fields to the sea and Cardigan Bay. When you can tear yourself away from the cottage the wonderful Ceredigion coastline is only 7 miles away as well as the delightful harbour town of Aberaeron with its colourful houses and great selection of pubs café’s and reputable restaurants. Locally caught fish and seafood are always on the menu and you can’t come here without sampling the famous honey ice cream too. There are delightful individual shops and the whole town has a great vibe especially through the summer season when there are a variety of festivals and events to enjoy.\nA bit further down the coast the pretty town of New Quay clings to the rocks above the bay and from here you can catch a dolphin watching boat trip. The bottlenose dolphins can be seen almost daily from the harbour wall. A 45-minute drive will bring you to Aberystwyth take a stroll along the promenade or ride the electric railway to the summit of Constitution Hill or take the steam train to Devil’s Bridge and Waterfalls. Whatever you do or wherever you go Ceredigion offers a warm welcome and a host of attractions and history. Befitting of a county that dates back over 1600 years every town has a tale to tell and each village a mystery to discover. Crack open a bottle of champagne and relax Soar Cottage is the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern life. Beach 7 miles. Shop pub and restaurant 3 miles. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/106/840/10638855.jpg UKC2528

Soar cottage quite simply is the best accommodation we have ever stayed at. Totally remote and peaceful. Yet all the mod cons inside. The cottage has clearly been well designed, superbly done with no expense spared. We will be going back!

A beautiful property immaculately presented. It has everything you could possibly need and all high quality. The hot tub was spotlessly clean and spacious. Set amidst rolling countryside and close to New Quay and Aberaeron, both lovely places to visit. Would recommend without hesitation and we've stayed in our fair share of cottage rentals.

An absolutely beautiful cottage, done out immaculately inside and out to the highest standards. Rosemary has done a fantastic job to get the finish as good as it is. If we were really nitpicking then we'd ask for larger bath towels for that more luxurious feel, and a Nespresso machine and some form of Bluetooth speaker would be great, but that really is about it! Highly recommended.

This is top quality accommodation at a very reasonable price. The owner Rosemary has created a beautiful cottage with top quality fittings and furnishings, yet it still feels like a place you can relax in and feel very much at home. The oak frames in this cottage are beautifully completed. The kitchen is huge and really well equipped. The conservatory is a lovely, comfortable room to relax and put your feet up. In fact we spent most of our time sitting there. The bathrooms are fab, both with large Powerful showers and a fantastic roll top bath. The superking size bed is really comfortable. Every night we had a solid, deep sleep, not always the case when you go on holiday. We stayed at the cottage 1st-8th February and the weather wasn't great, however, I can imagine the garden and courtyard being great in the spring/summer. A couple of other points to make is the cottage is very, very clean. The hot tub in amazing and attended to daily by Rosemary. Lastly one thing I loved was the Ref Kites flying just over the cottage. Do yourself a favour and take binoculars as they are all over the local area and are amazing birds

Our second visit to Soar Cottage and it won’t be our last.If you want a beautifully finished quality relaxing cottage with everything you want plus a beautiful hot tub then this is for you. There isn’t an awful lot in the surrounding area and there is nothing in walking distance but that is why we went, for the relaxation of the peace and quiet and to spend time in the cottage. There is a great butchers in Lampeter about 15 mins drive which we thoroughly recommend and a great coastal path in New Quay again about 15 mins away which even in January we spotted dolphins from. Lovely bottle of bubbles and tin of biscuits left but if we were to be hyper critical it would be nice to just have a pint of milk and tea and coffee left just so we could have a cuppa after a 5 hr drive.
