The much-photographed quay is also a staging post for boat trips including fishing expeditions, and boat trips to see the seals and is famous for ‘crabbing’ catching of the small crabs by hand line from the quay wall. Wells has a 9-hole pitch and putt, 800 yards, and more challenging, are the two cliff-top golf courses; Sheringham Golf Club and the Royal Cromer Golf Club. The quay is also home to Wells Sailing Club, Water Ski Club and other water sports. The 19th-century ‘Albatross’ Dutch sailing barge, now a restaurant and bar has live eclectic music on Fridays, Saturdays, and most Sunday lunchtimes during the summer. There is a well-appointed children’s playground and adjoining skate park, a cinema, a theatre, and a myriad of boutiques, craft and traditional shops, and amusement arcades.
