Introducing The Hide at Hilltop – A Sophisticated Escape in the Heart of Northumberland
Close to world-famous visitor attractions yet tucked away in the breathtaking Northumbrian countryside, The Hide at Hilltop is a stunningly restored former school that offers an exquisite blend of heritage and contemporary style.
This single-level retreat is a haven of comfort, where every detail has been thoughtfully considered to create a truly memorable stay. Step inside to discover a beautifully appointed interior, with a spacious open-plan living area featuring a stylish seating space with a wood-burning stove (an initial supply of logs provided), a bespoke coffee table, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system, including a 55 Digital Smart TV and a Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker. The dining area is set beneath soft lighting, perfect for relaxed meals, while the sleek kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances, a striking waterfall granite worktop, and handmade Danish crockery.
Throughout the property, art by local artists and commissioned sculptures bring a distinctive sense of place, inspired by the surrounding wildlife and landscapes. Guests will also have access to the games room, complete with table football, a PlayStation with games, and a selection of board games.
The first bedroom features a luxurious 6’ super king-size bed, along with hooks for hanging space and a stylish chest of drawers. The second bedroom offers versatile sleeping arrangements with zip-and-link beds, which can be configured as a king-size or two 2’6" twin beds to suit your needs, also complemented by hanging space and a chest of drawers. The elegant bathroom boasts a bespoke bathtub, a spacious walk-in shower with a rainforest showerhead, a sleek basin, and a WC.
Outside, The Hide at Hilltop is set within a pretty, fully enclosed garden, featuring an outdoor dining area accessible through the patio doors. Just beyond, a dedicated barbecue space with a firepit provides the perfect spot for alfresco gatherings, with an initial supply of logs included. A barbecue is available for guest use (please bring your own charcoal). At the rear of the property, an Asgard metal bike locker is available, offering secure storage for up to three adult bicycles and outdoor gear.
Located in the historic village of Edlingham, The Hide at Hilltop is surrounded by centuries of history, from its medieval church and 13th-century castle to the striking railway viaduct that adds to the area’s charm. Beyond the village, the property is perfectly positioned for exploring Northumberland’s treasures—just six miles from Alnwick’s world-famous castle and gardens, most recently known for its appearance in Harry Potter. It is also a short drive from the golden beaches of Alnmouth and within easy reach of the region’s most scenic walking trails and historic landmarks.
For convenience, there is designated private parking for three cars to the side of the property
