Saltash is a lovely location for a peaceful retreat surrounded by beautiful countryside, with keen walkers and hikers able to make the most of some incredible walking trails. Follow the picturesque Tamar Valley Discovery Trail through the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, passing along riverside paths and through charming woodlands. The trail begins at Saltash waterfront and continues over the Tamar Bridge and onto the historic area of Cotehele Quay and Caltock Viaduct. For more incredible countryside trails, the wild open moorlands of Dartmoor National Park are only a short drive away, or you can head south to discover coastal paths like Whitsand Bay and Rame Head. Finish your walk at a one of the area's cosy pubs like the traditional Notter Bridge Inn, or head back to your holiday home for some rest and relaxation in front of the fire or in your private hot tub lodge in Cornwall. Many of the local walking trails are dog friendly, so why not book one of our pet-friendly cottages in Saltash for the perfect escape with your canine companion?
Saltash is in a great spot for exploring Devon and Cornwall, providing easy access to both counties and their many historic landmarks, National Trust estates and ancient sites. Saltash itself is a historic town, with charming narrow streets and architectural gems like the 17th-century Saltash Guildhall and the Grade I-listed St. Nicholas and St. Faith Church. Explore the Grade II-listed mansion of Culverwood House, admire the iconic structure of the Royal Albert Bridge, and catch a glimpse into Elizabethan life at Mary Newman's Cottage, former home of Sir Francis Drake's first wife. The nearby National Trust estate of Cotehele House and Gardens is also well worth a visit. The Tudor mansion and its extensive grounds are set on the banks of the River Tamar, home to renowned landscaped gardens, the medieval Chapel of St. George and Cotehele Quay. After a busy day exploring, head home to relax in your luxury lodge in Cornwall.
If you're visiting the area for a family holiday, there are plenty of nearby attractions to entertain both young and old. Head south to the sandy beaches and pretty coastal paths of Whitsand Bay; hire bikes or go tree surfing at the Tamar Trails Centre in the Tamar Valley AONB; or explore the nature trails and adventure playground at Antony Woodland Garden along the River Lynher. You can also hop over the Tamar Bridge to Plymouth, a vibrant city with plenty of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options like a cinema, aquarium and park. We offer affordable holiday homes with enough space for the whole family, whether that's a dog-friendly lodge in Cornwall or a cottage with views of the waterfront.
