When it comes to coastal walks in England, they don’t get much better than the South West Coast Path, which takes you past the North Devon Coast’s rugged cliffs, sandy shores and secluded coves. The well-marked path is a lovely way to explore the region, with particularly beautiful stretches near Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands. If you prefer to explore by bike, try cycling the Tarka Trail, and wind your way through the incredible coastal scenery.
Perhaps the biggest draw to the North Devon Coast, the region’s beaches are simply a must-visit while you’re here. Surfing may be the most popular watersport, but you can also try your hand at activities like kayaking, paddleboarding or coasteering. The beaches are also great for family games or simply relaxing on the soft sands. Top spots include Woolacombe Beach, with its three miles of golden sands; Croyde Bay, a renowned surfing hotspot; and Saunton Sands, perfect for long walks and sandcastle building.
Although the huge choice of gorgeous beaches may be more than enough to fill your days, there are plenty of other family-friendly activities to choose from on the North Devon Coast. Go wild on the exciting rides at the Milkway Way Adventure Park; explore the nature trails at Hartland Abbey; or take a boat trip to Lundy Island wildlife sanctuary to spot seals, dolphins and maybe even basking sharks.
