Things to do on a Wiltshire holiday

Enjoy a fun family day out at Longleat Safari Park

One of the top attractions in Wiltshire has to be Longleat Safari Park. This drive-through safari - the first outside Africa to offer such an experience - is a hit with all family members. Here, you can see lions, tigers, wolves, koalas, red pandas, sea lions and so much more. On top of all this, there are scheduled feeding sessions, impressive Birds of Prey displays, and additional attractions like the adventure castle, maze and boat rides. Get ready for a full day of family fun that will be long remembered by all! Check in to one of our lodges near Longleat or Wiltshire holiday parks for a warm welcome and outstanding facilities - the perfect base for your next family holiday.

Discover enchanting National Trust sites and Wiltshire villages

For a more relaxed pace, why not spend a day at the National Trust property, Stourhead? This estate, situated on the Wiltshire/Somerset border holds breathtaking 18th-century landscaped gardens, with lakeside walks, classical temples and grottoes. You can also visit Stourhead House, with its fantastic Regency library and impressive art collection. If you are feeling adventurous, then climb the 205 steps up to King Alfred's Tower with magnificent views over 3 counties; Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset. Wiltshire is also home to the historic National Trust Village of Lacock, which retains much of its medieval origins. Dating back to the 13th century, the village is home to the picturesque Lacock Abbey and has been used as a filming location for various well-known movies and TV series, such as "Harry Potter", "Pride and Prejudice" and "Downton Abbey". A stroll through the village takes you along quaint streets and past historic houses. If you're visiting on a romantic getaway, why not book one of our luxury holiday homes with hot tubs to add an extra special touch to your trip?

Explore scenic walks in the Wiltshire countryside

From the countryside trails of Cranborne Chase AONB to the scenic routes of the Wiltshire Downs, the county is a haven for walking enthusiasts. For a picturesque walk that combines scenic surroundings and ancient origins, a visit to the Westbury White Horse is a must. Head to the slopes above Salisbury Plain where local legend has it that the chalk hill figure of the Westbury White Horse commemorates King Alfred's victory over the Vikings in AD878. An undulating 4-mile circuit takes you to this spectacular attraction, believed to date back to the 1600s or maybe even earlier, and then onwards to Bratton Camp, an Iron Age hill fort and Neolithic long barrow. Many of our Wiltshire holiday homes give you direct access to beautiful nature trails and countryside rambles like this, allowing you to make the most of the great outdoors on your UK getaway. You could also book one of our glamping holidays in Southern England to really stay close to nature.
