It may be one of the largest of Britain’s counties, but it remains one of the least well-known. Here you’ll find wide-open spaces, far horizons and room to breathe, not to mention some excellent locally-sourced food.Perhaps most striking are the Lincolnshire Wolds, where most of our Lincolnshire holiday cottages are located. Unlike the rest of the county, this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts rolling hills, deep valleys and is ideal touring country. In complete contrast, there’s Lincolnshire’s Fun Coast, miles of sandy beaches stretching from Skegness to Mablethorpe which attracts families in search of its many seaside attractions and shows.Not be missed is historic Lincoln, complete with its famous cathedral and medieval buildings as well as a Norman Castle where you can see one the few original copies of Magna Carta. To the south lies Stamford, a perfectly preserved Georgian Town, which featured in the TV adaptation of Middlemarch. Make sure you pay a visit to nearby Burghley House, one of our grandest Elizabethan houses.
