Follow in the footsteps of literary legends...
Haworth is perhaps best known as the home of the famed Brontë sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne, who lived in the village and were heavily inspired by the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. Literary masterpieces including "Jane Eyre" and "Wuthering Heights" were conceived here, and the legacy of the authors is still prominent in the village today - hence its nickname of "Brontë Country". You can visit their former home and gain an intimate insight into their lives at the Brontë Parsonage Museum; hike up to Brontë Waterfall and the ruined farmhouse of Top Withens on the moors, believed to have inspired Emily Brontë's "Wuthering Heights"; or visit the peaceful churchyard at Haworth Parish Church, where the Brontë worshipped and are buried.

The charming village and its cobbled streets are lined with historic buildings that house boutique shops, cosy country inns and charming tea rooms. If you're visiting in May, you can experience the Haworth 1940s Weekend, where the village transforms into a nostalgic celebration of the wartime era with reenactments and events. Alternatively, visit in December and soak up the festive atmosphere of the Haworth Christmas Market, featuring seasonal treats, stalls and entertainment. This really is a lovely place to get lost in on a romantic short break or weekend away.

The rolling hills and open moors that surround Haworth make this a fantastic location for walkers and cyclists. Lace up your walking boots and explore the stunning landscapes of Penistone Hill, Top Withen, Haworth Moor and Ponden Reservoir. Join sections of the long-distance Pennine Way or drive to the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park to explore even more trails. Cyclists can follow the old railway track to Oxenhope, join the Pennine Cycleway or cycle parts of the Tour de France that passed through Haworth in 2014.
